LIVING OUTSIDE THE BOUNDARIES

The contemporary museum is an institution that „lives” not only through its dynamic exhibitions, opened up to interpretation and capable to engage the visitor in the construction and negotiation of meaning, but also through diverse events organized as a way of actively involving inside the communities it services. Hence, museums establish and consolidate their cultural, educational and social role.

The small number of Romanian museums adapted to the new museology tendencies makes necessary a theoretical and practical approach of the cultural phenomena involved, in order to mark and appraise their importance in a broader context.
